Super Soil Scientists!!!

We are now learning about Rocks, Sand and Soil in our first grade classrooms! Here's looking out my window at my house on Wed. this week.....Our Rock Walk will just have to be postponed until next week...keep our fingers crossed that DES will be snow-less in a few days...... We had fun today investigating soil.....our question today was.....What is soil made of? It was fun to look through a sample of soil and observe the many interesting things in soil. Oh and it was awesome to do it with goggles!!!

Ground Hog Day

It was a fun day reading and singing all about the ground hog! Yes, spring is still six more weeks away! We hope!!! Here are the puppets we made to celebrate our friend! The last photo is the lovely critter himself....caught in a trap in the Handley flower garden last summer.....He was ground hog #8 by the way! He watched us do our work today and it was fun having him keep an eye on us! Think he wanted out of the cage???

Author Study

For the next few weeks we are reading and enjoying books by author Martin Waddell! Here we are showing two of our favorites. Ask your child which book they like the best by this author so far!

Writing Centers

Every week we are involved in writing centers that help us strengthen our writing skills. One center involves a "special project". This week we made snowmen for our bulletin board. Mrs. Moore helped us with our own "Winter" book and Mrs. Handley helped students extend their journal writing ideas. We are all great writers in our classroom!
